Credit Suisse recently released research it has conducted on the wealth of the world's 4.5 billion adults. The report looked at both the median wealth levels of nations, which is the mid-point between the wealthiest adult and poorest, and the average wealth of nations.
It is the median figure that is more meaningful because it says more about how a country's middle class is doing.
Australia ranked highly on both measurements of wealth with the research also revealing that wealth in Australia is more evenly distributed than in other countries, particularly when compared to the United States.
See how the average Australian's wealth compares to people from other nations like the United States, France, China and Japan.
Note: For consistency calculations based on adult population.
