Energy Australia
Energy Australia was one of Australia's largest and oldest energy suppliers with 1.3 million residential and business customers around Australia. In addition to selling gas and electricity to customers in many States, Energy Australia was an electricity distributor, operating one of NSW's largest electricity networks.
Energy Australia was owned by the NSW Government until March 2011 when the retail part of the business, including the Energy Australia brand, was acquired by TRUenergy. The distribution network part of the business was retained by the NSW Government and was rebranded Ausgrid. Energy Australia has been maintained as a separate brand but it is expected that it will be rolled fully into TRUenergy over the next 12 to 24 months.
