Do you look at your energy bills? Really look at them? Maybe you’ve noticed that your energy consumption or your energy costs have gone up from the quarter before, but did you ever think you might be able to pay less for your energy needs by switching providers? Here’s how.
Switching is not as hard as it seems. And you won’t have to suffer days without energy to do it.
First: put your post code into our search box to compare gas and electricity costs with your current supplier plan. Find the plan which best suits your needs and get an estimation of how much you could save by switching.
Second: where you have selected one of our partner retailer’s plans, complete the online application form and Switchwise will arrange your new electricity and/or gas connections for you. They require up to 5 days notice to set up connections for you, and note that connections cannot be done on weekends or public holidays.
Transfers or switches are done by most energy suppliers on the next scheduled meter read date. We recommend you write down your gas and electricity meter readings on this date to check these against the final and first bills. Some suppliers will raise a request for a special meter read, but it’s likely you won’t get to select when this happens. There are no disconnection or connection fees for switching. Meter reads are done by the distributor so the meter reader doesn’t change.
Once you have applied to switch you will get a final bill from your old supplier and usually won’t get a bill from your new supplier until 3 months later, so it can be up to 6 months from the day you applied to switch before you get a bill from your new supplier.
