Steve Johnson
Steve Johnson, Managing Director of The Intelligent Investor.
Born and raised in rural New South Wales, Steve moved to Sydney in 1996 to pursue his undergraduate studies at UNSW. Whilst studying he worked as a junior accountant at investment bank UBS and attributes most of his forensic accounting skills to this period.
After completing his economics degree, Steve commenced work with Macquarie Bank in Sydney where, as part of the Investment Banking Group, he worked on a number of cross border leases and projects such as the ground-breaking Sydney Airport privatisation.
Steve was subsequently posted to Macquarie Bank's burgeoning European operations, completing stints in Vienna and London. In 2003, he was persuaded by his childhood friend, Greg Hoffman, to return to Sydney and pursue his passion for value investing with The Intelligent Investor.
Apart from his role as co-owner and Managing Director, Steve is also part the analytical team, putting his industry experience and knowledge to great use. Outside office hours he enjoys most sports, travel, chess, backgammon, language and horse racing.
